The Latest Development of Student Assessment Repository (STAR): Organically Integrating L-T-A and Reinforcing Student Self-directed Learning via the Effective Use of the STAR Platform

Pedagogy & Curriculum Theatre (Curated by EdCity)

Overview

The Student Assessment Repository (STAR) is an online learning, teaching and assessment (L-T-A) platform with nearly 70 000 quality assessment items of Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 3, and various features, like instant assessment reports on student performance, direct links with learning and teaching resources, etc.
With a view to encouraging schools to incorporate the STAR Platform into their routine learning / teaching and school-based assessments as a regular and frequently-used L-T-A tool to gain a better understanding about students’ learning, the platform offers assessment tasks and learning / teaching resources covering Basic Competencies and the Full Curriculum of Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics.
The newly-added ‘Student Self-selected Assessments’ (Trial Version), which encompasses thematically-linked (language subjects) and learning unit-based (Mathematics) assessment tasks can further enhance students’ understanding of their own learning progress. The interactive learning resources can also provide students with more opportunities for self-directed learning.
Participants of this seminar will gain a better understanding about:
• the latest development / enhancement of the STAR Platform; and
• the use of the STAR Platform to promote student self-directed learning.
