IDEALS in Action: Using Innovative Technology in Learning Design, Learning Management and Learning Analytics to Embrace Future Learning
EDB InnoTheatre
Overview
The e-learning platform introduced in this seminar is one of the project deliverables under the e-Learning Ancillary Facilities Programme (eLAFP) funded by the Quality Education Fund (QEF). The platform, namely the “Intelligent DEsign-Aware Learning analytics empowered 21C Learning and Teaching System” (IDEALS), can be used to design lessons, assign learning tasks to students and analyze students' responses with artificial intelligence (AI).
This seminar aims to demonstrate how the IDEALS platform facilitates the design of meaningful learning journeys by utilizing learning analytics to inform follow-up actions. The platform guides the implementation of a robust process encompassing high-quality e-learning design, e-learning implementation, and continuous feedback to enhance teaching and learning.
During this sharing, practical strategies and real-world outcomes from diverse disciplines will be shared, showcasing how schools have used the IDEALS system to create learning experiences grounded in a solid theoretical foundation—Learning Design Triangle. By presenting learning analytics stories, the session will foster teachers understand how to leverage data to inform learning designs and optimize teaching practices. The case study will highlight how learning analytics from the IDEALS system are used to analyze and enhance student engagement, particularly in activities that foster scientific inquiry, engineering design, and interdisciplinary problem-solving. Ultimately, this session will provide actionable insights for educators aiming to develop students’ 21st-century skills, such as self-directed learning, critical thinking, and collaboration skills, through data-informed and theoretically grounded learning design.
