From Learners to Leaders: Student Agency in the Age of AI

Pedagogy & Curriculum Theatre (Curated by EdCity)

Overview

In an era of AI and rapid change, education must shift from the mere transmission of knowledge to the cultivation of student agency. G-School is an innovative, project-based learning school in Korea where students take the lead in designing and executing long-term, interdisciplinary projects, positioning themselves as active agents in their own learning.

This presentation will introduce the philosophical foundations and curriculum structure of G-School, highlighting how student agency and collaborative problem-solving are systematically developed. It will explain how learning environments, time structures, and educator roles are intentionally reimagined to support a culture of trust, autonomy, and deep engagement.

The session will be co-presented by the school principal and G-School students. In the second half, students will share their personal learning journeys, showcasing how leading real-world projects has enabled them to grow in voice, confidence, and impact. These stories will offer concrete insight into how schools can empower students to lead meaningful learning that reaches beyond the classroom.
