Learning English with GAVIS: An AI-powered Global-Englishes Learning App for HKDSE Students

Overview

The innovative pedagogies to be delivered in the open lesson include a learner-centered, global-Englishes app (funded by QEF eLAFP) to teaching and assessing HKDSE English group discussion. Through the use of the GAVIS mobile and VR app, these solutions provide AI-powered feedback on students' discussion performance, focusing on areas such as pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary, and interactive skills. This solution emphasises self-directed learning, reflective feedback, and the development of intercultural communication competence through learning from our Global-Englishes informed curriculum.
