Overview
The Education Bureau's primary school parental education framework cites research by New Zealand educationist John Hattie, which indicates that parental involvement effectively promotes children's physical and mental well-being.
To address the relatively low socio-economic status and limited communication between parents and children in this school, the school team has implemented a ‘Parent's Day’ approach, utilising the theory of ‘Compassionate Communication’ to gradually foster a unified language between parents and the school. The ‘Positive Communication Parent's Day’ is conducted with the participation of the entire school, and the ‘baby steps’ strategy is employed by selecting the fifth grade, which encompasses students facing exams and adolescence, to promote deeper two-way communication between teachers and parents.
