Exploring the Applications of Games for Teaching and Learning
Innovation Classroom (Curated by EdCity)
Overview
This workshop will explore how gamified learning can be enhanced through the integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI), with a focus on its applications in digital and interdisciplinary education. It will highlight how Generative AI gaming applications can be used to design immersive, challenge-based learning experiences.
Drawing on the speaker’s background in media and cultural studies, communication design, and educational technology, the speaker will demonstrate how to leverage Generative AI to develop real-time teaching content, role-play scenarios, and adaptive simulations, complemented by point systems and feedback loops to sustain learner motivation. The session will also discuss learner responses across age groups, as well as the practical opportunities and challenges of implementing such AI-driven game-based strategies, equipping participants with future-ready educational insights.
Participants will gain an understanding of the core principles and implementation strategies of gamified learning, and how game mechanics can be aligned with instructional goals to enhance student participation and learning effectiveness. The workshop will encourage educators to reflect on their evolving roles within interactive learning environments - from content deliverers to learning facilitators. In addition, participants will explore how digital media and interdisciplinary elements can be integrated into lesson design, inspiring innovative classroom practices and the development of self-directed learning models. These insights aim to stimulate new possibilities for the future of education.
